Our Story

Every photograph begins long before the shutter is pressed—it begins with light.

As humans, we don’t truly see color; we see light. Photography, in its purest form, means painting with light. Without light, there is no image.

At Xploring Light, this belief shapes everything we do. The first and most essential lesson for any photographer is learning to understand light—its quality, intensity, and direction. Once you learn to see light, you start seeing the world differently, and compelling photographs follow naturally.

This pursuit of light is where the name Xploring Light comes from. It is both our philosophy and our purpose: to help photographers move beyond equipment and technique, and discover the true foundation of photography—light itself.

The Man Behind

It is a team venture of photo enthusiasts spearheaded by Jassi Oberai.

Jassi Oberai’s photographic journey is driven by curiosity, light, and the desire to see the world differently. What began as an early passion has evolved into a lifelong practice shaped by travel, observation, and storytelling.

Having photographed across India and around the world, Jassi brings deep field experience to his role as a mentor. He believes great images come from patience, awareness, and an emotional connection to the moment—not just technical perfection.

As a mentor, Jassi thrives in real shooting environments, guiding photographers to read light, simplify compositions, and discover stories in ordinary scenes. He encourages creative versatility, moving fluidly across genres while helping participants develop their own visual voice.

After years of collaborating with photography organizations, Jassi now leads independent, immersive photo tours designed to go beyond technique. His goal is simple: to help photographers return home with stronger images, deeper confidence, and a renewed way of seeing the world.
